Maintain Your Aid Eligibility

In order to maintain financial aid eligibility, students must:

  • Be enrolled at least half time
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards

The Financial Aid Department monitors the academic progress of each student at the beginning of each payment period. Students who are not meeting SAP standards will be placed on financial aid probation or financial aid suspension according to policy.

Students placed on financial aid suspension will lose aid eligibility until they are able to meet SAP standards. Students on financial aid suspension are expected to make other payment arrangements for educational costs.

Timing of Disbursements

Students are financed one academic year at a time. Students may refer to the college catalog for a description of their program's academic year definition.

Funds are normally disbursed in two payments during the academic year. For new students, the first payment is released to the school after 30 scheduled days of instruction. The second disbursement is released upon the beginning of the 2nd term in the academic year. Prior to releasing funds, the school will verify your eligibility, attendance, GPA and academic progress.

How Can I Help Ensure My Funds are Disbursed On Time?

  • Attendance: funds are only disbursed if students have recent class attendance posted and are scheduled to continue attending classes.
  • Grades: keep your GPA at 2.0 or above to ensure eligibility for aid.Although students on probation may continue receiving aid, students must improve their academic status to meet SAP standards by the end of the term in order to remain eligible for federal aid.
  • Communication: if you are not able to attend class, be sure to contact your instructor or Department Head and let them know your situation and the date that you will be able to return to class.
  • Notification: if you move or change your telephone number, be sure to let your lender, loan servicer, and school know the new information.
