The following questions are included on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to determine your dependency status. If you are unable to answer yes to any of the questions below, you're considered a dependent. Your financial aid administrator may request additional documentation from you regarding the information provided and your circumstances.
- Are you 24 years of age or older?
- Are you married?
- Are you enrolled in a master or doctorate program?
- Do you have children who receive more than half of their support from you?
- Do you have dependents other than your children or your spouse that live with you?
- Are you an orphan or ward of the state until age 18?
- Are you a veteran of the armed forces?
Dependent students are required to include parent income and household information on the FAFSA in order for aid eligibility to be determined. In addition, a parent must sign the application.
